Garment of Praise Home

Edison Bwalya

Edison was taken in by Mercy Touch in early June 2015. His mother died tragically when he was a baby and the wherabouts of his father are unknown. He is an orphan. His grandmother was taking care of him but could no longer manage. He lacked a proper diet as well as had no access to education. He used to get sick frequently and was usually left home alone from the young age of 5 to play. He was always found moving around the neighbouring farms. Mercy Touch previously sponsored Edison through the weekly feeding program before officially taking him into the home. Since we took him in he has not been sick and he will continue to receive regular medical checkups. He eats a well-balanced meal every day and is adjusting well to his new environment. He likes playing with friends and always stands up for himself. He is very inquisitive and eager to learn. He is also very active. Edison is a fast learner. He is a gifted and talented child who enjoys drawing from imagination.

John Phiri

John Phiri is the identical twin brother to Maiko. He joined Mercy Touch in June 2013. His primary caregiver was his aunty who could no longer take care of him and his brother. When we heard that they were living in a small abandoned place alone, we took them into our boys' home. They were only having (maybe) one meal a day and would otherwise rely on our weekly feeding program to eat. John loves to laugh and ask a lot of questions. His teachers were surprised at how smart he is; especially for not being in school before. He won the "Most Improved Student" award at school in 2013.
